When your photos are ready, we'll meet again for your ordering appointment where I will present your finished gallery and you will place your product order. Your products will be hand-delivered once they arrive.
During your portrait session I will capture several expressions and poses, combining your wishes with my ideas. I will then carefully review, edit, and expertly retouch the best photos from the session.
We will first meet for a consultation where you'll have the chance to view product samples, learn about the process, and see a full price list. Once booked, we will customize your session by email, by phone, or in person.
You're a work of art, and your portraits deserve to be displayed and enjoyed. Luxury photo products are available including prints, canvas, acrylic, metal, and albums.
Q: What type of equipment do you use?
A: I use professional digital cameras and lenses in order to produce the highest quality images possible. My work is done primarily using natural light but I will use supplemental lighting when necessary. All photo editing is done on a color-calibrated monitor. In addition, I always carry backup equipment, record every session to dual memory cards, and utilize a redundant data storage system.
Q: How much editing and retouching will be done to the photos?
A: All photos presented to you will be treated to standard editing (color correction, lighting adjustments, and cropping/straightening) and minor retouching where necessary (skin softening, removing or minimizing temporary blemishes, and teeth whitening) while not altering permanent features. I take pride in maintaining realistic color and lighting in my photos for a timeless look. You can be assured that all editing will be completed by me, as I do not outsource.
Q: Do you have formal training in photography?
A: Yes; I attended college where I completed various courses in photography, art, and digital design. My first class even involved developing my own film in a darkroom.
Q: What should I wear for my session?
A: Every client will be given access to an exclusive Style Guide which contains helpful tips on styling and preparing for your session. I recommend dressing up more than your everyday look when having professional portraits taken.
Q: Where will the session take place?
A: Most portrait sessions will take place in outdoor locations of your choice in or around Fond du Lac, or we can travel to a more distant location for a small fee. Indoor locations may be used for certain types of sessions as well.
Q: Can I include my pet in my session?
A: Pets are welcome as long as they are leashed, well-behaved, and allowed at the chosen location.
Q: Could I be published in a magazine?
A: Possibly! I occasionally submit photos to photography magazines, blogs, and feature pages (with client approval). I've had work published in print multiple times. The chance of being published is greater if your hair, makeup, and outfits fit the aesthetic the particular publication is seeking, and most prefer highly styled looks. (Submission to publications is not guaranteed.)
Q: Do you photograph weddings?
A: I am not currently taking commissions for weddings, events, or newborns. I can provide you with trusted referrals instead.
Q: Are you insured?
A: Absolutely; my business is legal, registered, and fully insured. I am a professional who is invested in my business and committed to my clients.
Q: How do I book a session?
A: We first meet for a consultation, and once you decide to move forward, the session fee will be due to secure your session date on my calendar.
Q: Can you just email me a price list?
A: Due to occasional changes in prices and product offerings, I do not email price lists. A complete price list will be disclosed at the consultation, and a copy will be provided upon booking. The typical investment listed here is what actual clients spend, and is reflective of orders that include a substantial number of products/photos. This amount varies greatly, as everyone has different desires when it comes to professional portraits.
Q: What forms of payment are accepted?
A: Cash, personal check, and credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) are all accepted. You may even extend your order payment with a payment plan.
